About The Nigerian School Project
The Nigerian School Project is a non-profit educational organization that provides Nigerian teachers and school children the resources with which to teach and learn. Since 2004, the organization has delivered school supplies, purchased textbooks, built school furniture (including 3 school libraries), provided university scholarships and is presently building a schoolhouse for 500 children.
International Voluntary Service Activities
Every year The Nigerian School Project has taken along a volunteer (teachers & students) from the United States. Their volunteer responsibilities have ranged from spending two weeks teaching mathematics, journalism, theatre & peer leadership to students in Nigerian public schools. Since 2004 there have been 6 volunteers. Due to the logistics of traveling and accommodations in Nigeria the organization is limited to accepting one or two volunteers per trip. The organization travels for 2-3 weeks at the end of June into July. Each volunteer is responsible for any materials needed to teach, airfare and lodging.
