About Mission Doctors Association
Mission Doctors Association has since 1959, recruited, trained, sent and supported doctors and their families to serve at mission hospitals and clinics in Papua New Guinea, Africa, Latin America and refugee camps in Thailand.
Currently Mission Doctors Association offers both a long-term program for Catholic doctors interested in serving three years, and additional opportunities to serve one - three months.
Working with the local community MDA strives to provide not only direct patient care but offer training for local medical providers to improve health delivery on a sustainable basis.
International Voluntary Service Activities
During the past 12 months ten doctors have served in Zimbabwe, Uganda, Cameroon and Guatemala both long and short-term assignments. Fifteen doctors are planning trips in the coming year to these locations as well as Tanzania.
Through the local bishop, Church run hospitals and clinics have made their needs know. Additional sites in Sierra Leone, Ecuador, and Peru are currently being considered and developed.
