About Bike Aid International
Bike Aid International rescues bicycles that would have otherwise ended in the landfills in the US and send them to projects in developing countries of the world. We are committed to providing cheap, sustainable transport to less developed countries. Since bicycles empower individuals, their families and communities and fulfill basic needs by providing access to economic development, education and health care the bicycles will offer poor people in developing countries the best means to improve their lives, giving them opportunities through cheap, non-polluting transportation to travel to work and school. They can also be adapted to carry goods and passengers giving small scale farmers and traders the opportunity to reach customers further afield. They are also an invaluable resource for traveling health workers coping with the AIDS and Malaria epidemic.
International Voluntary Service Activities
Bike Aid International deploys volunteers from the United States to assist our partner organizations in the areas of bicycle mechanics, small business development, malaria and HIV/AIDS. We have placed 12 volunteers during the past twelve months and expect to place 15 volunteers in the next twelve months.
